We have since established the Silver Lining Collective which aims to continue this creative work for both patients and people with lived experience. Our aims are to be the difference for patient recovery through holistic artwork integration.

Our plans intend to support further creative sessions for current inpatients at North View to feed into a curated exhibition programme. We also aspire to offer creative sessions for the Manchester community for people with lived experience.

We’ve had many wonderful conversations along our journey – these few words sum them up,

The gallery space at North View is on the lower ground floor by the Therapy Rooms.

It saw its debut exhibition officially opened in May 2025 and continues to have regular curated work on display.

The mixed themed artwork has been created by service users and people with lived experience.

Staff and service users from different wards came together on the opening event to celebrate the artworks and create their very own art piece.

Swift birds were decorated as they were used in the commissioned designs in North View: chosen for their endurance, elegance and enigmatic character. We thought to take strength from these birds for our own journeys through life. At the end of the day, we had a whole murmuration of swifts soaring together over the Therapy Room windows.

You can find out about the events the OT staff team offer inpatients by calling in at the North View Therapy Rooms.

Our beautifully printed postcards share the nine large scale feature coproduced artworks that were created for each ward.

A mindfulness audio has been commissioned for each artwork.

These audios offer a deeper connection with the artworks to help you look, pause and explore.

Each ward at North View has a resource booklet with them all and you can find them all here to view and listen at your leisure.

We were thrilled to have our co-produced ‘River’ artwork displayed in the community room of ‘Room to Breathe’ at Manchester Art Gallery in the Autumn of 2023. Seeing the textures and colours for real created a wonderful immersive experience.

Room to Breathe is a quiet space in the Art Gallery with just a couple of artworks to enjoy from the comfort of a sofa! The Art Gallery is very near to Piccadilly and St. Peter’s Square tram stop.
